Getting On-site at Battyeford

If you’re planning to arrive at Battyeford via the Wakefield Road please beware that it’s one of the busiest roads around, it’s got a 40mph limit, and that when there’s a football game on the adjacent pitches, the parked vehicles can make the approach challenging – especially on a bike!

EVERYONE is welcome to visit – but a top tip: if you’re arriving in Mirfield by car and if you’re just looking to launch and are self-contained (with your own boat and kit) then there’s a way easier launch spot at Gill Bridge in Lowlands Road (click here for details).

If you’re arriving or departing on foot, please note that the better (wider) footpath is on the north side of the road (furthest from the river).

Parking Options

If you’re expected at a Club Session or Event and the field is dry enough to take vehicles then you should find our gates are open (or someone’s around to open them). Great – but please be aware that as soon as the ground gets saturated, getting off the field can get tricky.

If you’re arriving sometime when the field is NOT going to be available, options are limited. There’s sometimes a space or two off the road by the gate but PLEASE leave space for local residents. You might try just over Battyeford Bridge (opposite South Pennine Boat Club) but this is often all taken by anglers, dog walkers and so on. No other GOOD options exist, but if you’re up for a walk, you could try Helm Lane.
